Knitting & Crocheting Blog Week: Day Five – And now for something completely different

Day Five!

This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create.
There are no rules of a topic to blog about (though some suggestions are given below) but this post should look at a different way to present content on your blog. This can take one of many forms, but here a few suggestions:
Wordless, photographic post
This is the one I’m doing!

Stay tuned, I’ll have a post each day through Sunday, answering the prompts given at Eskimimi Knits’ site. If you want to read the rest of the blogs that are also posting, you can do a google search on this term: 2KCBWDAY5. Everyone participating will have that term in their post and you can follow along that way. ๐Ÿ™‚

This week has flown by!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a week since I’ve updated. Sorry about that. Really.

But, I can show you some pictures!

Those would be my latest pair of socks. I learned an important lesson while making these. Namely, one should always write down what one has done to “personalize” a pattern because one never knows how long it will take to get to the second sock. Good thing I can read my own crochet. Two months went by between sock #1 and sock #2.

That’s a doily slouchy hat. It started as a “quick” project for instant gratification. And then I put it down and got busy and it took me another couple of weeks to get back to it. Story of my life. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and here’s my latest WIP:

That’s the beginning of the Cap Sleeve Top from Crochet That Fits. It’s being made in sparkly blue Lion Brand Vanna’s Glamour. It’s the first garment I’m making for conference. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve got a few other in mind, I just have to find time.

Speaking of conference, registration opened today. Have I registered? Nope. Waiting on some income to come in so I can pay for the classes I want to take and all that. Fingers crossed the classes I want don’t sell out! And no, putting on a credit card is not an option right now. We’ve been working hard to pay bills down and I don’t want to add to that by putting the trip on plastic. So, I’ll wait. I should be able to pay for everything I need when my next bit of income comes in.

Anyway, on the slate for this week is finishing up some designs for submission (including my first “real” garment) and a design for self-publication. I also need to write an article and submit it as well. And do one final look at the taxes before sending them off.

Have a great week everyone!

Engagement photos (photo heavy, obviously)

I know, totally not crochet related. But, here are the best photos that were taken of John and I on family picture day. These were taken at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

That rock was COLD and I kinda jumped on John’s lap. This is the only picture where we’re both not cracking up too much. ๐Ÿ™‚

“Recreating” the proposal. Except we were in our PJs and in our living room and John was on both knees the first time, but this is still a great shot. Will likely be our official “engagement” photo we send with announcements. If you look closely you can see my teal colored wool socks poking out from under my jeans. Those are crocheted, thank you very much. ๐Ÿ™‚

Going in for the kiss.

The kiss. Now, if you look closely, you’ll see we’re both cracking up. That’s because this is the second kiss. The first one went too quick and our photographer made us do it again. John was nervous because my dad was standing right behind him and he said he felt funny doing that in front of him. ๐Ÿ™‚

Near the end of the day. You can kinda tell I wasn’t feeling as well by here since I’m actually using the hand on the railing to keep myself steady.

I like this shot. I just love the background. Being on the water, with us both (now) being kayakers, this is a perfect shot for us.
