It’s here!!!

The mail today brought my contributor copy of the CLF First Ever Book. Woo! I’ve been waiting rather impatiently for this, even more so because Dani got her copy the other day.

See? It’s really real and really here!

And lookie, 4 things have my name on them! In a real, honest to goodness book! Two patterns:

And 2 articles:

This one is about John and how crocheting brought us together. ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, it’s a bit sappy.

This one is a reprint from an earlier post in this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so freaking excited! I smiled, I cried, I laughed, and I still haven’t read it all yet. There are a lot of great articles and a lot of awesome patterns. And the CLF isn’t done yet!!!

In other news, I finished the hat and scarflette for the trip. Scarflette? Yeah, didn’t have enough yarn to make it very long, but it’ll wrap around my neck and should tuck into my coat just fine. If not, I’ve added a button. Here’s the scarflette:

The pattern is my own Lattice Mesh Scarf, just done a little wider at the base.

And here’s the hat:

I added in another round of increases to make it slouchier than the original pattern called for. The thing I liked best about it was the detail on the back:

The pattern is Ferris Wheel Slouchy Hat by Gleeful Things. Ravelry Link and Regular link.

I will likely make more of that hat, it was so quick and easy to do.

Anyway, that’s all from me. Likely until after the holiday. Tomorrow will be last minute packing and cleaning and then I’ll be offline from Wednesday through Sunday. I don’t know if I’ll have any pictures because my camera is acting up lately (I refreshed my battery pack over the weekend, took no pictures until today, and the battery is dying again….I think it’s just because I’ve had the camera for about 5 years now). I’ll see if I can snag John’s camera to take with me.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Hat done, scarf to do tomorrow

I finished Andrea’s hat a few minutes ago and got all the ends woven in. ๐Ÿ™‚ Scarf work will start tomorrow. I’m still kicking around in my head which way I want to do it.

Here’s the pics:

Okay, now I’m going to go spend time with John since he just got home. We’re now just over 2 days away from him leaving. ๐Ÿ™

Catching up…lots of pictures

Yesterday morning I finished the project for the yarn company, wove in all the ends, and packaged it to go to the post office (which I will be doing shortly). Here’s a closeup of it:

After I finished that I got started on the hat for Andrea’s hat and scarf she’s ordered. I’m using my Beatrice Hat pattern and will be designing a scarf to match it for her. I’m using Cascade 220 in Mystic Purple and black. I think it’s turning out pretty good. Here’s the progress picture after day 1:

Last night I finished the first of the pair of socks now known as the Pensacola socks since that’s where John was when he got the yarn for me. I love this yarn. It’s soft and springy and the socks fit perfectly:

Oh, and the next project after I finish the hat and scarf is to start on SSP#4…the yarn came the other day. Wanna see?

There must be something going on at the Air Force base in Tampa. Between yesterday and today I’ve heard 4 large planes go over our house. We’re not on a typical flight path for commercial planes, but John told me last time I heard this that it’s flights coming and going from the base. It still freaks me out because they sound like they’re trying to land on our house.

I’ve had to redo my work schedule. I’m working full days Monday through Thursday and then half days on Fridays. Friday afternoons will be my major housecleaning day (rather than pushing it to the weekend as I usually do) so the house is all clean and the housework is all done before John gets home from his trips. I am, however, likely taking this Monday off. It’s a holiday, and I told myself I’d take holidays off. Plus, I’m not sure I’ll be in the mood to do work stuff. This week John leaves on Sunday afternoon to have time to get up there and find his hotel and the site and all that. So I’m a wee bit cranky about that figure Monday would be best for me to just sit and do stuff for me that day. If I’m in an okay mood, then I’ll work on work stuff.

Okay, time to get another cup of coffee before running up to the post office to send off the package for the yarn company. Have a good day, everyone!

How I spent my day

I made a beret! The pattern is Puff Stitch Crochet Beret with Bow. I started it this morning around 8:30 and finished it about 8:45pm. The yarn is Plymouth Yarn Jean nee in tan. I used a G/4.5mm hook and almost 3 skeins of yarn. I did not make the bow.

Oh, and yeah, I cut my hair as well. That was yesterday’s event. No, I wasn’t feverish (which is what happened last time I cut my hair that short). I was just up for a change and decided to go for it.

Anyway, back to the crochet stuff. I’m waiting to hear from one more tester and then the submission project can go out the door. I also need to finish up a baby care package since little Peter Edward should have been born today (waiting on final confirmation). So that’s what I’ll do tomorrow.

Oh, and if anyone can spare some good thoughts tomorrow (Wednesday) around noon, we’d appreciate it. John has one of his final phone interviews for a great job at that time. Then he’ll just have a face to face left and then getting the offer. It is sounding more and more like a done deal and it would be a great opportunity for him.

And one more cool pic I took totally on accident!

Hat finished

This was a super quick pattern. I think had I been focused yesterday I could have finished it during the day. But, with being sick I had to rip out a round or two and redo. But I love it. I think I’m going to design a scarf now to use up the other skein I have.

Anyway, here’s the link to the pattern and the pic:

I used the pattern from Crochet By the Hook. It’s the E L Brimmed Hat by Dot Matthews. Great pattern. I did make 2 changes for mine (big shock). I did another round of pattern repeats and then also did more single crochets on the brim. Oh, and I added a small edging. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, it was quick and easy and took less than 1 skein of Moda Dea Silk ‘n’ Wool. Like I said, I could have likely finished it in the afternoon had I been focused.

Okay, off to finish the scarf for the class sample and then I’m going to work on the sweater now that I feel a bit better and should be able to comprehend the directions for the front. If nothing else, I’ll get the sleeves done.
